TESSA
BBC WIL is responsible for leading the design of the learning portal and the development of the technical infrastructure. We are delivering a major user-generated content portal in 16 African Languages, integrating a CMS (Alfresco) and an LMS (Moodle). Both these systems are built with free and open source software, minimising costs to the client. This approach also promotes the reuse of both the content and the systems.
TESSA (Teacher Education in Sub-Saharan Africa) is a programme aimed at improving the overall quality of teaching, with particular emphasis on basic education. It will provide online training for teachers, helping meet the demand to train thousands more teachers across Africa.
